Kitutu Masaba is embracing the digital revolution with the recent launch of a new Digital Community Hub, an initiative poised to transform the lives of young people across the constituency. The hub, co-funded by the American Tower Corporation-Kenya (ATC) and the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF), aims to equip residents with the digital skills needed to thrive in the modern economy.
Bridging the digital divide
Located at the Tombe NG-CDF offices in Manga Ward, the new facility is a strategic move to decentralize access to technology and information. For years, residents in rural parts of the constituency have faced challenges accessing essential services and information. This new hub is set to bridge that gap by offering a fully equipped space for digital learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The hub will provide a platform for locals to enhance their technological skills and participate in the burgeoning digital economy. This is particularly critical for the youth, who can now access online opportunities, learn coding, graphic design, and other valuable skills without having to travel long distances.
A collaborative effort for progress
The success of the initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration. The partnership between ATC-Kenya and the NGCDF has brought together essential resources, including 100 state-of-the-art computers and one year of free internet connectivity. This financial and technological support ensures the hub is fully functional and ready to serve the community from day one.
During the launch, attended by representatives from the Ministry of ICT and the Ajira Digital team, Kitutu Masaba MP Hon. Clive Ombane Gisairo, was lauded for his commitment to unlocking digital opportunities. The hub's establishment aligns with the Kenya National Digital Master Plan 2022-2032, reinforcing the constituency's commitment to national development goals.
What's next for Kitutu Masaba?
The new hub is just the beginning. According to MP Gisairo's office, there are plans to operationalize additional digital hubs across the constituency in the coming months, including the Gesima Digital Centre, which is currently under construction.
As these projects roll out, the community can expect improved service delivery, a boost in local businesses, and enhanced opportunities for skill development. This initiative represents a significant step forward in transforming Kitutu Masaba into a model for digital empowerment and development.
